Interment: 3:00 p.m. July 23, 2013 at Lake View Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Iowa

Caroline A. Bannister, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa died July 20, 2013 at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake.

Caroline Ann McCulla was born September 28, 1930 in Cherokee, Iowa the daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Thiel) McCulla. She was baptized at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake.

Growing up, Caroline attended school in Spirit Lake where she graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1949. Following high school graduation, Caroline attended Buena Vista College where she graduated in 1952.

On October 26, 1952 Caroline was united in marriage to Charles Lloyd Bannister at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Together, they were blessed with seven children: Jane Ann, Lloyd, David, Charlene, Teresa, Alice and Melissa.

Caroline was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Storm Lake and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking and watching soap operas. Caroline loved her family, especially babysitting her grandchildren. She enjoyed going out to eat and having coffee with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Lloyd Bannister of Storm Lake, Iowa; David (Shanda) Bannister of Storm Lake, Iowa; Charlene (Jeffrey) Ulrich of Fonda, Iowa; Teresa Handy (special friend, Mike Noe) of Ruthven, Iowa; Alice (Bob) Spooner of Storm Lake, Iowa; Melissa Bannister of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Charlie (Jennifer) Spooner, Jonathon (Jami) Spooner, Miranda (Nick) Winkleman, Justin (Nancy) Howard, Joshua (Bridget) Peters, Tara Peters, Autumn Ulrich, Shanda Handy, Jessica (Jeff) Thompson, Brandi (Cody) Handy, Ricky Handy, and Whitney Bannister; great grandchildren: Elianna and Nickolas Peters; Katelyn and Kylene Howard; Jacob, Kaylee, Isabell and Dante Spooner; Avery and Dominique Winkleman; Aiden Scott; Haylea Spencer; Madelynn and Aleczander Thompson; Braeton Halverson; unborn great granddaughter, Karlyna; extended family and friends.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Bannister; daughter, Jane Ann Bannister; son-in-law, Artis Lathan; and two brothers, Robert and Tomas McCulla.
