Funeral services for Henry John Schroeder were held Saturday morning, March 19, at 10:30 in the First Lutheran church in Milord with Rev. Leif Monson officiating. Prayer services were conducted from Leyson Funeral home. Music at the services included solos by Mrs. Leif Monson, who sang "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset". Mrs.' Art Erickson was accompanist. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery at Akron.

Pall bearers were Charles Whitney, John Erickson, George Wintz, Andrew Christensen, John. Reiman and Jay Sykes.

Mr. Schroeder passed away, at the Spirit Lake hospital Wednesday night at 11:30, March 16, where he had been taken that morning for care. His health began to fail about four years, ago. and in 1953 he suffered a stroke. Cause of death was an internal hemorrhage. He was 74 years and 16 days of age at the time of his death.

Henry John Schroeder was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schroeder. He was born March 3, 1881, at Blixen, Germany. He spent his early life in Blixen and on Nov. 30, 1907, he was married to Dina Heran in Wilhauen, Germany. In 1913, Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder came to America and lived in Chatsworth, Iowa until 1938. Then they moved to a farm near Milford and resided there until 1948, when they moved into the town of Milford and they have made their home here since.

To this union were born two daughters and six sons, Elsie, Mrs. Wash Timmons of Everly and Helen, Mrs. Ed Wilson of Lake Park, Gustace and Fred of Hartley, Walter and Ernest of Everly, Herbert of Ocheyedan and Henry, who preceded his father in death March 20, 1927.

Mr. Schroeder served in the German army before coming to America and was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church in Wilhauen, Germany. He transferred his membership to the Lutheran church at Chatsworth and later to the Trinity Lutheran church in Akron. At the time of death, he was a member of the First Lutheran church in Milford. Mr. Schroeder was a good father, never complaining of his ill health, or of any of the misfortunes he endured.

Survivors include his wife, his daughters. Mrs. Ed Wilson and Mrs. Wash Timmons, his sons, Gustace Fred, Walter, Ernest and Herbert; one sister, Mrs. Frieda Wooge of Crab Orchard, Neb.; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, as well as many friends.
