Roy Earl Sheppard, 76, 1321 Ashmun St., Burlington, died at 1045 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, at Elm View Care Center.Born May 9, 1919, in Burlington, he was the son of Clifford and Mame Mahoney Sheppard. On May 16, 1942, he married Herma G. Galbraith in Burlington.Mr. Sheppard had been a welder and machinist for E.A. Lange and then J.I. Case Corp.He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran, fighting in the Pacific Theater. He obtained the rank of staff sergeant. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Patricia Milton of Burlington; one son, Clifford Sheppard of Burlington; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; two nephews; and one niece.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.Visitation will be from 7 until 830 p.m. Monday in Prugh's Chapel.A graveside committal service for Mr. Sheppard will be 1030 a.m. Tuesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. John Hyland officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 10102.
