Gilbert M. Engstrom, 79, a native of West Burlington, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, February 23, in Phoenix Mountain Nursing Home, Phoenix, Arizona. His home was at 2050 West Dunlap, Phoenix.

Mr. Engstrom was born March 11, 1905, to Ludwig and Alfreda Moody Engstrom. He married Elsie Margaret Speidel November 2, 1927, in Ft. Madison; she died April 27, 1976.

Mr. Engstrom was a retired employee of the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving: Son Walter A., Phoenix; daughter Elsie McNeil, Middletown; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Prugh's Chapel, the Reverend Philip S. Windsor; Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Middletown Presbyterian Church.
