Norma Jean Boney

Norma Jean Boney, 76, of Burlington, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2023, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born July 24, 1947, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Dean E. and Bertha L. Mitts Gapen. She married Mike Boney on Nov. 4, 1979.

Norma worked for I.A.A.P., Warehouse Market, Grimes School, and more recently for Walgreens on Division for the last 15 years.

She was of Christian faith.

Norma was known for her wit. She was a caring person, always willing to help if she could and always put others first. She enjoyed baking and watching the wildlife in her backyard and most importantly her time spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Boney of Burlington; two daughters, Julie Fleming of Ankeny, and Katie Boney (Mandi Radakovich) of Gilbert, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Courtney Fleming, Brody Fleming, Adley Radakovich, and Nixon Boney and one sister Betty (Garry) Sumpter of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Curtis Watts, three brothers, Clifford, Roger, and Robert, and two sisters, Joann and Sharon.

According to her wishes, there will be no services. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked in memory of Norma, for a personal act of kindness or to reach out to someone in need.
