Charles Leon Kuntz

Mediapolis - Charles Leon Kuntz, 83, of Mediapolis, formerly of Oakville, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, at the Great River Hospice House in Burlington. The funeral services for Leon will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church. Ministers of the Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, rural Oakville. Following the graveside services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Mediapolis. There will be no visitation at the church prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Great River Hospice House or the Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church in memory of Leon. Charles Leon Kuntz was born on June 7, 1938, in Oakville, Iowa, the son of George Christian and Hazel Marie (Kuebler) Kuntz. He was a 1956 graduate of Huron High School. On June 10, 1962, Leon was united in marriage to Doris Jean Moser in Morton, Illinois. He and Doris lived in the Oakville bottoms for many years, where they farmed. In his early years he operated his own custom corn shelling business. In later years, after the flood of 2008, they moved to Mediapolis. Leon was a devout Christian. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Oakville for many years, and in later years, the Apostolic Christian Church in Mediapolis. Leon enjoyed farming, collecting John Deere tractors, traveling and attending Travelogue and was a member of Farm Bureau.

Leon will be deeply missed by his sister, Nelda (John) Rowell of Tremont, Illinois; sister-in-law, Barbara Moser; many nieces and nephews; his church community and many other friends and neighbors.

Leon was looking forward to be reunited with his parents, George and Hazel Kuntz; wife, Doris and beloved son, Terry Lynn Kuntz.
