Mrs. Luise Berger Thye, 87, died Monday at 2:20 p.m. at Burlington hospital after being a patient there for five weeks.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Berger, she was born at Grausheim, Germany on April 26, 1874. She came to the United States in 1886 and married Henry Thye, January 27, 1892 at Rochester, New York. The couple moved to Des Moines County in 1894. Her husband died in 1941 and since that time has lived with her children. She was a member of the Oak Street Baptist church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Walter(Ella) Otto, Mrs. Arthur(Emma)Drebenstedt, Mrs. Margaret Hult and Mrs. Theodore(Louise) Behne; four sons, Herman, Theodore, and Emil, all of Burlington; Elmer of Wever; one sister, Rosa Fritze of Berlin, Germany, American sector; 24 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Her husband and four sons are dead.
Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Oak Street Baptist church with the Rev. Howard Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Aspen Grove Cemetery. The body is at the Wallen-Nelson funeral home, and will be moved to the church at 10 a.m.
