Howard Melvin Walker, 58, of 700 S. Central, was found dead in his home Friday of an apparent heart attack. He was found by an Iowa Southern meter reader at 2:42 p.m.
He was born Feb. 26, 1910, in Tama township, the son of William B. and Birdie May Walker. Aug. 20, 1968, he married Dorothy Elliott in Burlington. Mr. Walker was a tolltaker on MacArthur Bridge, a member of the Eagles lodge, and the Municipal Employees union.
Surviving: The wife; two brothers, Carl I. Walker and Lloyd A. Walker, both of Burlington; three nieces and a nephew.
Services: Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Prugh's chapel, the Rev. Robert Mutton; Walker cemetery.
