Margaret Kaprich, 89, formerly of Centerville, IA passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020 at her home in Ankeny, IA. Margaret was born June 16, 1930 in Plano, IA and was the daughter of Milton Vern and Alma (Farley) Herr. She was united in marriage to Joe Kaprich in Centerville, January 7, 1950. Margaret and Joe made their home in Rathbun, IA and were blessed with two sons, Michael, and John. In 1997 they built a new home just outside of Rathbun in Centerville and enjoyed all the visits from their boys and their families. Margaret and Joe were married just shy of 65 years at the time of Joe's passing in 2014. Margaret was a homemaker which she loved and after her children were in school worked part-time at the Owl Pharmacy for many years in Centerville, for the wonderful Reznicek family. Margaret loved the Reznicek's and her other Owl Pharmacy "family". She looked forward to her days at work and the opportunity to visit with the patrons who came to the store, Margaret retired from working in January of 2010. She was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville and after moving to Ankeny, worshipped with St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church at Vintage Hills.
Margaret loved spending time with family. She so loved her nieces and nephews and as a younger gal enjoyed playing Cowboys and Indians and games of flag football with her nephews. Her hobbies included, gardening, cooking, volunteering at church, traveling, taking day trips with friends, collecting figurines, beanie babies, Hallmark Christmas ornaments, and going on bank trips with Joe. She enjoyed helping others and was forever grateful to friends who helped her and Joe over the years. Especially Lorraine George who drove her to 45 days of radiation treatments in Ottumwa; to Janet and Dewey Abrahamson for helping her and Joe while still at their home and for continuing to watch and care for their home after Margaret moved to Ankeny; to Rich Herman who plowed their long driveway; and many other wonderful neighbors who brought groceries to the house, and checked-in in frequently. In recent years she enjoyed crafting, coloring, painting, playing games, bean bag baseball with the Vintage Hills Vipers, and spending time doing any activities available at Vintage Hills where she resided. She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, and Grandma. Margaret was a great friend to many and so valued her special relationships with her many friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe; her parents; and three brothers Vern J. Herr, Jacob Glenn Herr, and Charles Herr. As well as many other beloved family members. Margaret is survived by her two sons; Michael (Suzanne) Kaprich of Smyrna, GA; John (Rebecca) Kaprich of Ankeny, IA; four grandchildren: Mason Kaprich of Nashville, TN; Maddie Kaprich of Atlanta, GA; Nathan and Andrew Kaprich of Ankeny, IA; and sister-in-law Agnes Swensen of Nevada, IA.
