Mrs. Wilma L. Van Osdol, 89, of Burlington died at 12:17 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA.
Born September 30, 1930 in Winfield, IA, she was the daughter of Frank and Leota (Long) Hunter. She married Forrest “Frosty” Van Osdol September 24, 1950 in Winfield, Ia. He died September 28, 2000.
Wilma graduated from Winfield High School and Iowa Wesleyan University with a Teaching Degree. She was a substitute teacher at Burlington High School and West Burlington High School. She worked at Sylvania, Burlington Bank & Trust (now Two Rivers Bank & Trust) and ServPro for 12 years.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Wilma belonged to and held all offices for Women of the Moose Lodge. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary, Eagles Club Auxiliary, and was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, cooking and baking at the holidays, and camping, especially with family.
Survivors include four children, Janice Kiersey of Burlington, Linda Hall of West Burlington, Pamela (Joe) Jankowski of Burlington, and Wayne (Brenda) Van Osdol of Gull Lake, MN; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sherry Hull; and sister, Betty Starr.
The funeral service for Mrs. Van Osdol will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 1st at Lunning Chapel. Rev. Dean Graber will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends may call noon to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31st at Lunning Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and Kayla’s Cupboard.
