Sally Jane Burhans
Sally Jane Burhans, 85, of Mediapolis, formerly of Burlington died Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Prairie Ridge Care and Rehabilitation in Mediapolis, Iowa.
Born May 31, 1934 in Burlington, Iowa she was the daughter of George H. and Viola M (Schmidt) Ellerhoff. She graduated from Sperry High School and was president of her class. She attended and graduated from Burlington Junior College. She married Lawrence Burhans. He died as a result of a automobile accident September 26, 1964.
Sally was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She loved to sing and play the piano, reading and writing and spending time with her cats.
Survivors include one brother Larry (Louise) Ellerhoff of DeWitt, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
The funeral for Mrs Burhans will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7 th at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Dan Baker will officiate. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery of Flint River Township, rural
Burlington. Following social distancing guidelines, the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
