Edgar Laue

Edgar R. Laue, 96 of Burlington, formerly of Franklin and Ft. Madison, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at his home.

Born July 4, 1923 in Burlington, he was the son of Arthur and Catherine (Eads) Laue. He married Clarice V. Turner May 12, 1948 in Wapello, IA. She died July 24, 2018.

He served in the United States Army and Navy during World War II.

Edgar enjoyed farming with his Dad and brothers, and eventually his own farm in Franklin, IA. He worked at Fox Appliance, and for 30 years at G.E. as an inspector, until his retirement in 1986.

He was a member of the Christian Church of West Burlington. He was a 50 year member of the Eagles Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Rhodes and Peggy Harvey, both of Burlington; six grandchildren, Jeff Harvey, Kelly Stogdill, Chali Ott, Tricia Gerling, Marcy Dirth, and Adam Rhodes; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Gifford, Gilbert, and Bill; one step-sister, Dorothy Kemp; and one step-brother, Keith Younk.

The memorial funeral service for Mr. Laue will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7th at Lunning Chapel. Rev. Sam Fratt will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

According to Edgar’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and Burlington Eagle Aeries #150.
