Jacob Thomas Moser

Jacob T. Moser Sr., 82, of Burlington, Iowa died April 26, 2019 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born October 7, 1936 in Kingston, Iowa he was the son of George R. and Laura A. (York) Moser. He married Mary K. “Kathy” Hodgerson on June 7, 1959 in Burlington, together they celebrated almost 60 years of marriage.

Jacob worked as a welder for J.I. Case for 28 years until his retirement in 1992. After his retirement he worked for Crapo Park for 11 years.

He served in the Air Force from 1955-1958. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #150, Burlington Gym and the Tuesday Morning Coffee Group.

He enjoyed wood working, tending to his roses, taking fishing trips to Canada and time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife Mary “Kathy” Moser of Burlington; two daughters, Machell (Sean) Chapin and Celest (Larry) Johnson both of Burlington; one son Jacob “Tom” (Lynn) Moser II of Burlington; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Alice Paschel of Roseville, Illinois and one brother Delbert Moser of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

The memorial funeral service for Mr. Moser will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 3rd at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Simon McBride will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2nd at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.

A memorial has been established for the Great River Hospice House.
