Yesterday afternoon at the Walker settlement, six miles north of this city, occurred the death of Mrs. Catherine Benedict, an old resident of Des Moines county. She died about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Mrs. Benedict was born January 31, 1824 and came to this county i April of the year 1838 and had lived here from that time until the date of her death. She has two brothers living at Tama Town. Thomas A. Wykert and Theodore Wykert. Four children morn the loss of their mother. The funeral service is to take place to-morrow afternoon and the interment is to be in the Wykert cemetery at 2 o/clock.
