Mary Jane Mattson
Mary Jane Mattson, 98, of Fort Madison died at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 18, 1919, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles and Ada Shoemaker. She married Edgar Paul Mattson Dec. 23, 1941, in Schuyler County, Mo.; he died Sept. 1, 1996.
Mrs. Mattson worked at the Winegard Co. for more than 30 years.
She attended Burlington High School.
She enjoyed taking walks, biking, fishing, crossword puzzles, sewing and needlepoint. She was known for her sense of fashion.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Walz of Fort Madison and Paulette Swanson of Albuquerque, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her three sons, one daughter and two brothers.
The graveside committal service for Mrs. Mattson will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Burlington Memorial Park.
A memorial fund has been established.
Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
