George Reif passed away at his home No. 1212 Oak street, yesterday morning, at 7:20 o’clock. He had been ailing for the past year and had been confined to his bed the last seven weeks.
The funeral will take place from the home at 2:00 o’clock Friday afternoon, with interment in Aspen Grove. Friends are invited to these services.
George Reif was born in Des Moines county, November 14, 1850, the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Reif, early settlers of this county. On October 23, 1877, he was married to Miss Sarah Ewinger. He followed farming all his days and moved to the city March 1, 1920, from his farm in Flint River township. He was a faithful member of the Methodist church in West Burlington. He was not only a successful farmer, but a good citizen, a good neighbor, who enjoyed to a rare degree the respect of all who knew him. He is survived by the widow and six children: Albert, Lawrence and Martin Reif, and Mrs. Henry Oetken, Mrs. Wm. Rheinschmidt and Miss Ursula Reif all of this county. There are thirteen grand children and a host of other relatives and with the many friends will honor his memory.
