Kermit Wirt

Kermit Fred Wirt, 60, Mediapolis, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1993 at Burlington Medical Center.

The son of Fred and Marie Heckenberg Wirt, he was born June 13, 1933 at Burlington. On July 10, 1966 he married Kay Adolphson at Mediapolis.

He was a graduate of the Huron High School, class of 1951; served in the Army from 1951-53; was a 4-H leader and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Mediapolis. He was a farmer and had been employed at the IAAP for the past five years.

Survivors include his wife of Mediapolis; two daughters, LeAnne Edle of Sperry; Kathy Bonar of Morning Sun; three sons, Dan of Mediapolis; Jeff and Darrin both at home; one grandson Blake Bonar; one brother Merlin Wirt of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 6 at 10:30 a.m. from Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Mediapolis, with Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Music was provided by organist Denise Smuck. Honorary bearers were Bruce Bentley, Lloyd Schofield, Ray Petersen, Hank Thie, Hartzell Hillyard. Casketbearers were Carroll Horton, John Wischmeier Jr., Curtis Pflum, Dave Eberhardt, Mike Wirt and Nick Wirt. Interment was in the Kossuth Cemetery.
