Pioneer Dead.
David C. Carns, the Well Known Contractor.
He Lived Here Half-Century--Was Widely Known and Esteemed.

David C. Carns, a pioneer carpenter of Burlington, died yesterday afternoon at his home on Prospect Hill. For the past two years Mr. Carns had been in ill health and unable to work at his trade. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Stafford of Peoria.

David C. Carns was seventy-three years old and was born in Butler county, Ohio. He came west to Burlington about 1850, and had made this city his home for over a half century. He was widely esteemed and was a man of the highest integrity. For several years Mr. Carns was a groundskeeper of Athletic park on Prospect Hill.

The funeral will be held Sunday.
