GLASGOW - Mrs. Mary Fordyce Burnett, 96, Burlington, died Monday in the Burlington Memorial Hospital.
She was the widow of James M. Burnett, longtime operator of Burnett-Wallen Funeral Home.
Mrs. Burnett was a native of Glasgow in Jefferson County and was born Sept. 12, 1877, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Winfield Fordyce. She was married to James M. Burnett May 10, 1898, in Fairfield.
Mrs. Burnett was a member of the First United Methodist Church, WSCS Chapter P of PEO, and Burlington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Louise Woods, Burlington; Mrs. Genevieve Smith, Brighton; and Mrs. Georgia Wallen, Santa Fe, New Mexico; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial to the Apple Tree Museum has been established in commemoration of Mrs. Burnett at the Sheagren Funeral Home.
