The Burlington Hawk-Eye

Hannah Gilleard was born in Yarmouth, Iowa, on the 30th of March, 1886, and died at Burlington Hospital, June 3, 1913, at the age of twenty-seven years.

At an early age she attended the Methodist Sabbath school and church in Yarmouth, and this is the testimony of her Sunday school superintendent, "She was always faithful and studious, and never refused to do anything I asked of her; always answering cheerfully, 'Well, I'll do my best.'"

She was married to Walter Eckey on the 14th of February, 1906, and although the married life was of short duration, it was sweet, and blessed because Christ had entered with them into the covenant. On July 10, 1910, the departed, with her husband, joined the Methodist Episcopal church in Mt. Union and has ever lived a noble, sincere. Christian life. The departed had a vital interest in almost every department of church work, especially the Sabbath school and Epworth League. For several years she taught a class of boys and one may well say. "She loved, planned and labored for them."

The departed leaves the husband. Walter Eckey; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gilleard, of Yarmouth; five sisters, Mrs. Welch, of Yarmouth; Mrs. Hall of Mt. Union; Mrs. Baxter, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Mrs. Poggemiller, of New London; Miss Hazel Gilleard of Yarmouth; and three brothers, Joseph, William and George, all of Yarmouth.
