City Officer Passes Away

William F. Schroeder, Deputy Health Officer, Dies At Mercy Hospital

William F. Schroeder, 56, deputy city health officer, died at Mercy Hospital at 5:10 AM yesterday. He had been in ill health for two years but his condition was not considered serious until about a week ago.

Mr. Schroeder was born near Sperry, Ia., Feb. 24, 1873, and came to Burlington 24 years ago. His home here was at 916 North Eighth Street. He was married Oct. 26, 1898, to Ida Woepking, who died July 6, 1911. Mr. Schroeder was a member of the First Evangelical Church.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Louise Schroeder; seven sisters, Mrs. Clara Mehmken of Burlington, Mrs. Lena Hendrickson of Burlington, Mrs. William Wusso of Burlington, Mrs. Christian Wallentine of Danville, Mrs. Anna Reineke of Bonaparte and Mrs. A.J. Knehaus of Bonaparte; two brothers, Charles Schroeder of Danville and Fred Schroeder of Cottage Grove, Ore.

The body was taken to Unterkircher's funeral home pending funeral arrangements.
