Alice Marie Swink, 89, of Avoca Nursing Home in Avoca, died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at the nursing home. Born Aug. 21, 1913 in Burlington, she was the daughter of John and Bertha Ellen Fuller Weinheimer. Ms. Swink taught school, tutored students with learning disabilities and worked for Neisners for more than 40 years. She was a member of First Christian Church for more than 50 years. She was past president of the local Eagles Auxiliary, sang barbershop quartet and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Buck of Berthoud, CO; Peggy Beverage of Hancock; Judy Petersen of Burlington; and Willa McCannon of Oakville; one son, William Drewer, of Sheldon, WA; 18 granchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Nellie Whitledge of Creve Coeur, IL; and one nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
