Born March 18, 1925, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Clyde E. and Lolita F. Thrasher Prox. On July 8, 1945, she married Richard Hippe in Burlington. He died June 8, 2002.
Mrs. Hippe was a clerk at JCPenney's for 18 years, retiring in 1989.
She attended First United Methodist Church. She also was a past Sunday school teacher. She cared for elderly neighbors and baby-sat for many children. She ran a Little League concession stand in Marshalltown and loved going to baseball games and picnics. She also enjoyed gardening, painting, refinishing furniture, ceramics, sewing and listening to music.
Survivors include two grandsons, Bryan P. Hippe and Daniel R. Hippe, both of Waterloo; two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Jeanette K. Prox Green of Utah, Martha A. Prox Rente of Ohio, Evelyn B. Prox Hall of Burlington and Helen E. Prox Isett of California.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of the service Saturday.
The funeral for Mrs. Hippe will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
