Mr. August John Lachman, 105, of West Burlington died at 11:25 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Blair House.
Born November 26, 1909 in Butler County, Kansas, he was the son of Paul and Christian (Keitzer) Lachman. On August 18, 1934 he married Margaret Elizabeth Pounder. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2003.
Mr. Lachman served in the Navy Reserves. He was a pipefitter for Local 212 Plumbers and Pipefitters for 50 years. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and the Eagles.
He loved to fish and hunt in his younger years. He enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Pearl Cutkomp, Esther Mynatt and Gladys Whalen and one brother, Arthur Lachman.
The funeral service for Mr. Lachman will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28th in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Brice Hughes will officiate. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Zion United Church of Christ.
