Lawrence Talbott, 87, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa, on Monday, January 12, 2015.

Lawrence was born on August 29, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Albert and Edna Gunn Talbott. He married the love of his life Shirley Ann Westgate on March 11, 1950 in Burlington, Iowa.

He served in the U.S. Army. Lawrence worked for Alliant Energy (formerly known as Iowa Sothern Utilities) for 46 years. He has been a baptized member of Jehovah’s Witnesses since July 31, 1954. His faith in God took first place in his life. He loved to share the bibles message of everlasting life in paradise here on earth. He had a solid faith in the resurrection hope made possible by the shed blood of Jesus.

Lawrence in his younger days traveled on motorcycle trips and enjoyed snowmobiling. He enjoyed maintaining his home and vehicles. He traveled the world; visiting many countries in South America, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and Canada. He also visited every state in the United States.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Shirley of Burlington, Three sons, Steven (Jane) Talbott of Centralia, Missouri, Larry Talbott of Burlington, Iowa and Gary Talbott also of Burlington. Six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lloyd, Leonard and Roy Talbert, two sisters, Betty and Lucille Talbott.

The memorial service for Lawrence Talbott will be held at Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 6760 Hunt Road, Burlington on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Elder Greg Fields will officiate. Interment will be at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service. Condolences may be left at www.prughfuneralservice.com.
