Harriet L. Gordon, 81, of Burlington, died at 10:42 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Burlington Care Center.
Born Oct. 15, 1919, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Walter John Horn and Matilda L. Schachel Saunders. On April 22, 1939, she married Frank A. Gordon in Fort Madison. He died Aug. 22, 1976.
Mrs. Gordon was self-employed with Gordon's Custom Service for 21 years, with her husband doing mechanical work on cars, boat repairs and restoring antique cars. Prior to that, she was a seamstress for Singer Sewing Machine Co., where she also taught sewing.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include one brother, Paul W. Horn of Fort Madison; one sister, Dorothea S. Smith of Burlington; and one brother-in-law.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Visitation will begin after noon until 8 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel. There will be no family visitation.
The graveside service for Mrs. Gordon will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Halstead officiating.
A memorial has been established for First Christian Church.
