New London (IA) -- Chester R. Funk, 82, retired New London farmer, died Friday (January 20, 1961) at the Shelton nursing home, where he had been a patient for 15 months.
He was born to Peter and Lena Rethemeier Funk at Yarmouth November 24, 1878, and was married January 30, 1901, at Mt. Pleasant to Elsa Jane Lee. For the past 20 years, he has lived here.
He was a member of Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian church.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Rice and Mrs. Edith Heibner, both of Danville; Mrs. Frances Stafford, Sperry; two sons, Raymond T. Funk, Yarmouth, and Kenneth, Burlington; seven grandchildren and five sisters, Mrs. Esther Smith, Mt. Union; Mrs. Clara Landrum, New London; Mrs. Flossie Chrissinger, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Nellie Beere, Burlington, and Mrs. Grace Miller, Mediapolis.
One daughter and a son, two sisters and two brothers are dead.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Elliott chapel, the Reverend John O. Woline officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery.
