Laura Veronica Pickle, 89, rural New London, died 3:30 p.m. Sunday, February 1, at the Danville Community Home.

Born September 22, 1897, at Pilot Grove, she was the daughter of Abner and Sarah Watton Thornburg. She married William Lee Pickle on July 4, 1918, at Mount Pleasant.

She was a member of the Baptist Church at Lowell.

Surviving are her husband; nine daughters, Florence Martin and Velma Weigert, both of Mount Pleasant, Dorothy Blint and Hazel Blint, both of West Point, Jean Tebbs, New London, Marjorie Foster, Duluth, Minnesota, Gwen Lear, Cedar Rapids, Karen Putnam, Burlington, and Mary Gohr, West Burlington; three sons, Richard Pickle, Mount Pleasant, and Joseph Pickle and Jim Pickle, both of New London; one sister, Mildred Fry, Weiser, Idaho; and 44 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren Friends may call at the Elliott Chapel, New London, 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Services for Mrs. Pickle will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Elliott Chapel with the Reverend Gordon McMillan officiating. Burial will be in the Lowell Cemetery.

A memorial for the Danville Community Home has been established.
