Kenneth Edward Breuer, 83, of Burlington died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at his home.
Born April 1, 1923, in Burlington, he was the son of William S. and Mabel C. Breuer. On June 27, 1942, he married Fern Elizabeth Johnson in West Burlington.
Mr. Breuer worked at J&J Steel, Wittes Paint, Murray Iron Works and was a farmer and iron worker.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Local 577, the Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting and time spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Fern of Burlington; two sons, James Breuer and Richard (Rikki) Breuer of Burlington; three daughters, Donna Dee (James) Gerst of Hedrick, Iowa, Cheryl Ann (Michael) Cline of Burlington, Iowa and Cindy Sue (Jon) Fye of Sperry, Iowa; one sister, Bernice Miller of Burlington, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Breuer of Mediapolis, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Breuer; two brothers, Horace and Billy; and two sisters, Louise and Eleanor.
Pastor Dean Moberg will officate, with full military rites being conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard at the Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at a later date.
As per Mr. Breuer's wishes, following the service, his body will be cremated.
A memorial has been established for St. John'w Cemetery and Great River Medical Center, Hospice.
