Fern Breuer

Fern Elizabeth Breuer, 89, of rural Burlington died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at her home.

Born Feb. 14, 1925, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Truie B. and Alvine C. Pfeiff Johnson. On June 27, 1942, she married Kenneth Edward Breuer in West Burlington. He died Nov. 8, 2006.

Mrs. Breuer was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. John’s of Flint River Township Church.

She was known for holding together a loving family, caring for her aunts and uncles in their later years and spending time once a week with her brothers and sister.

She enjoyed crafting and gathered crafts to market. She also enjoyed cooking, family gatherings and garage sales.

She and her husband traveled to her husband’s military service group reunion for several years.

Survivors include two sons, James Breuer and Richard Breuer, both of Burlington; three daughters, Donna Gerst of Hedrick, Cheryl Cline of Burlington and Cindy Fye of Sperry; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Orville Johnson of West Burlington; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, her parents, two brothers and one sister.
