Wapello (IA) -Funeral services for Pearl Lulu Earnest, 87, Wapello, were held at 10 a.m. today at the Wapello United Methodist Church. Reverend Jerrold Swinton officiated. Burial was in the Kossuth Cemetery near Mediapolis under the direction of the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello.

Pallbearers were Bary Swafford, David McKinney, Dan Earnest, Robert Earnest, Tom Johnston and Dave Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Earnest, Steven Earnest and Todd Earnest. Flower attendants were Violet Dearmin, Elma Syphirt, Donna Cook, Cynthia Gearhart, Murray Stineman and Marian Bozman.

Mrs. Earnest died at 8 p.m. Friday at her home in Wapello.

She was born March 14,1889, in Des Moines County, the daughter of James and Jane Hunter Deam.

She married Robert Hall Earnest February 9, 1916, at Mediapolis. A former resident of Cairo, she had lived at Wapello since 1942.

She was a member of the Wapello United Methodist Church, the Ruth Circle, Order of Easter Star Chapter 257, Fairview Ladies Aid Society and the Oakland Whatsoever Class.

Surviving are two sons, Clarence of Morning Sun and James of Wapello; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Swafford of West Burlington; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968, a daughter, five brothers and three sisters.
