Vivian Marguerite Deam, 98, formerly of Wapello, died Friday, June 15, 2012, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

Born July 12, 1913, in rural Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Fred and Bertha Davis Deam.

Ms. Deam was a 1932 graduate of Mediapolis High School. She taught for three years in rural Louisa County schools and moved to Wapello in 1943. She worked in various offices and then as the Louisa County recorder for several years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Wapello. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, family, her church and community, and politics.

Survivors include one niece, Susan Snyder of Mount Pleasant; one nephew, Kent Potter of Mount Pleasant; one great-niece; one great-nephew; and four great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery in Mediapolis.
