Born Jan. 2, 1963, in Burlington, he was the son of Don and Shirley Bowman Schwerin. In October 1982, he married Tami Turner in Gulfport, Miss.
Mr. Schwerin worked for Zaiser's Fabricating and previously for AJ's Construction.
He attended Burlington High School. He was of the Protestant faith. He loved to play horseshoes, build clipper ships and go boating on the river.
Survivors include one daughter, Tara Billings of Burlington; two sons, Justin Schwerin of Burlington and Jory Westerman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Shirley and John Penney of Mediapolis; his father and stepmother, Don and Dee Schwerin of Vero Beach, Fla.; five sisters, Chris Memi of Houston, Pam Honson of Sperry, Cheryl Weatherwax of Madison, Ala., Penny Stephens of Oakville and Teresa Fillmore of Mediapolis; one brother, Donnie Schwerin of Janson Beach, Fla.; four stepsisters, Michele Mossena, Robin Davis, Angela Aguirre and Korie Matthew, all of Vero Beach; his special friend, Kathy Dugan of West Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Schwerin will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
