Mrs. Marilyn Elizabeth Wagenbach, 83, of rural Burlington died Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Great River Medical Center Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born August 1, 1931 in Copley, Ohio, she was the daughter of Clarence and Mabelle (Dockus) Graf. On November 27, 1952 she married John H. Wagenbach Jr. in Pasadena, California.
Mrs. Wagenbach was a homemaker. She was a member of the Oakville-Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church in Mediapolis. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and babysitting her grandchildren. Marilyn dearly loved each one of her church family, regardless of age. She frequently shared this through handwritten notes, phone conversations and her caring smile. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were precious to her and she was able to truly enjoy this past Thanksgiving with her entire family in attendance. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, John H. Wagenbach Jr. of rural Burlington; one son, David (Charlene) Wagenbach; four daughters, Beth (Kent) Steffen of Congerville, Illinois, Jerilyn (Joe) Yackley of Taylor, Missouri, Heidi (Nathan) Larson of Sperry and Mary (Tom) Lanz of Oakville; 16 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Graf of Pasadena, California, Virgil (Marilyn) Graf of Temple City, California and Dale Graf of Peoria, Illinois; one sister, Lucy Griffith of Rocklin, California; one brother-in-law, Bob Crockett of California; several of her husband's siblings and their spouses and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins for whom she felt a special affection.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edwin and David Graf and two sisters, Judy and Doris.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 18th, at Lunning Chapel and from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Friday, December 19th, at Oakville-Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church.
The funeral service for Mrs. Wagenbach will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 19th, at Oakville-Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church with the Ministers of the Church officiating. Interment will be at Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Oakville.
Memorials have been established for Great River Medical Center Hospice House and Apostolic Christian Skylines Nursing Home in Peoria, Illinois.
