Gladys Armina Snakenberg, 69, of Burlington, died at 3:31 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born April 14, 1929, in Keosauqua, she was the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Lister) Patton. On Sept. 9, 1947, she married Jesse Joseph Snakenberg in Burlington. He died June 16, 1976.
Mrs. Snakenberg was a homemaker. She worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Sylvania, Elm View Care Center, Ramada Inn and cooked for Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She was a member of VFW Post 10102 Ladies Auxiliary. She was of the Methodist faith. She attended Denmark and Burlington schools.
Survivors include four daughters, Dianna Quinn, Linda Francis and Beth Cary, all of Burlington, and Rexetta Spiker of Stronghurst, Ill.; two sons, David Snakenberg of Burlington and Charles Snakenberg of Middletown; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Ellen Kidder and Lois Kelly, both of Roseville, Ill., and Viola Poffenbarger of Burlington; and two brothers, Earl Patton of De Soto, Mo., and Wayne Patton of Burlington.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, an infant son, three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will begin after noon today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Snakenberg will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Wolgamuth officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Cemetery.
A memorial of the donor's choice has been established.
