Jerry Allen Kaufman, 79, of Burlington, died at 12:45 PM Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Born January 26, 1935, in Randolph County, MO, he was the son of Joseph and Georgie Herrin Kaufman. In March of 1985, he married Martha Fetters in Macon, MO.
Jerry worked for Associated Electric Cooperative, as a manager and draftsman for numerous power plants, and owned Katy Station in Columbia, MO.
He was a 1953 graduate of Moberly High School. He attended Moberly Junior College.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the VFW Post 2654 and the Moberly Moose Lodge 776. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed painting and artwork. He was also very handy when it came to plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, woodworking, and wood carving. He built many birdhouses and he and his wife also built their own home.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Kaufman of Burlington; three sons, Jerry (Linda) Kaufman, Jr. of Columbia, MO, Joseph Kaufman of Grandview, MO, and Sheldon (Michelle) Richey of Burlington; two daughters, Kimberly Kaufman of FL and Leah (Steve) Pettrone of Romeoville, IL; seven grandchildren, Kailee, Ryan, Brendan, Evelyn, Melissa, Nadine, and Lauren; one great-grandson, August; and one brother, Bill (Shirley) Kaufman of Hallsville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services.
A memorial has been established for the Wounded Warrior Project.
