Alberta Verna Wemmie, 89, of Burlington, died at 4:55 a.m. Thursday, January 22,2004, at Great River Medical Center's Klein Center.

Born September 16, 1914, in Battle Creek, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Louis and Esther Niederhuth Schulz. On June 22, 1939, she married Albert Wemmie in Battle Creek. he died August 22, 1989.

Mrs. Wemmie was a homemaker.

She was of the Baptist faith. She loved to sew, crochet, make silk flower arrangements, chalk drawing, flower gardening, teaching Sunday school and working on the farm. She also enjoyed making clocks with her husband.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Wemmie and Mark Wemmie, both of West Burlington; two daughters, Linda Bozwell and Donna Beyer, both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arnold Schulz, Kenneth Schulz, and Harlan Schulz, all of Madison, Nebraska; one sister, LaVerne Glaser of Norfolk, Nebraska, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The funeral for Mrs. Wemmie will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Calvary Baptist Church.
