William Jackson "Jack" Smith, 58, of Farmington, died at 7:40 AM Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born September 22, 1955, in Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of E.J. and Betty Hayes Smith.

Jack was a carpenter, working for Schmidt Construction building bridges, and also owned and operated Smith and Sons Construction.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Montrose. He enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Jacob (Keela) Smith of Olathe, KS, John (Krystal) Smith of Dewitt, IA, and Ethan (Stephanie) Smith of Wylie, TX; one daughter, Kimberly Marshall of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Rylin, Lila, Layton, and Fallon Smith; his mother, Betty Smith of Donnellson; one brother, Carey (Sandy) Smith of Fort Madison; and one niece, Brenda Miller of Ainsworth.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

There will be no visitation or services.
A memorial has been established in Jack's name.
