Elzena Clark, daughter of Chauncey and Esther Clark, was born in Des Moines County, Iowa, February 15, 1842.

She was united in marriage to Oliver S. Marshall, on March 28, 1870. To this union were born eight children, four of whom survive Clark, Ira, and Mrs. May Gesling, of Sperry, Iowa; and Mrs. Lucy Hutchcroft, of Lamoni, Iowa.

Mrs. Marshall departed this life on December 12, 1926, aged 84 years, 9 months and 27 days, her death occurring at the home of her son, Clark Marshall, of Sperry.

Besides the children named above, she leaves eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; also a brother, Higby Clark, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She will be missed greatly in the Clark Marshall home, where for many months she was lovingly cared for, and also by all her relatives and friends, and by the community in which she dwelt for so long a time. But earth's loss will be heaven's gain.

Funeral services were held at the Clark Marshall home on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock, conducted by the Reverend G. H. Smith. The singers were Mesdames Burrus and Riepe and Messrs. Henry Ellerhoff and Theodore Breuer. Interment was in the cemetery at Old Stone church.
