Carroll V. Carter, 89, of Burlington Care Center, formerly of West Burlington, died at 725 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 1996, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born Jan. 30, 1907, on a farm west of New London in Henry County, he was the son of Henry and Ivinnie Linken Carter. On Jan. 18, 1975, he married Myrla Owens in Omaha, Neb.
Mr. Carter was a bulk plant manager until his retirement from Yetter Oil Co. He owned Carter's Harness Shop until age 82.
He was a member of Eagles Aerie 150 for over 50 years and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in West Burlington.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Delores Northrup of Burlington; one stepson, Vance Chrisman of Hampton, Va.; one stepdaughter, Betty Scholting of Bellevue, Neb; one brother, Claire Carter of Burlington; three nieces; two nephews; numerous stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 830 p.m. this evening at Prugh's Chapel.
The funeral for Mr. Carter will be 130 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. David Mixon officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Eagles Aerie 150 of Burlington.
