Helen F. Schwartz, 91, former Burlington resident, died at Windsor Manor, Carol Stream, Illinois, on Tuesday, September 23, 2014.

Born April 8, 1923 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Herbert F. and Vala G. Chambers Schwartz.

Miss Schwartz worked as stewardess on the California Zephyr for seven years and taught school for 17 years at North Hill School. She was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington. She was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed sports and reading. She was a member of the Iowa State Education Association, National Education Association, Burlington Education Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Survivors include her sister, Virginia S. McCartney of Carol Stream, Illinois; two nieces, Molly (Larry) Klowden of Elmhurst, Illinois and Jane (Cletus) Coughlin of Chesterfield, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Hugh McCartney.

The graveside committal service for Miss Schwartz will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington. Iowa, on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Please gather at the Sunnyside entrance gate for the procession to the grave site. Pastor Ryan Cosgrove will officiate.
