Born February 5, 1926 in San Jose, California he was the son of Charles and Hazel Boyd Preader. He married Sue Lippold in California. She preceded him in death.

He was in the Army during WWII. Mr. Preader was the supervisor of Almaden Vineyards in California. He enjoyed wood carving and working with his hands.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol Hill of Keokuk, Iowa; three grandsons, Steven (Tiffany) Preader of Burlington, Shane Preader of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Jared Hill of Keokuk, Iowa; two granddaughters, Cristina McDuffee of Haymarket, Virginia and Ruby Hill of Keokuk, Iowa; one sister, Juanita; and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Steve Preader Sr, four sisters and three brothers. No services or visitation is planned. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Funeral Service. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
