Ralph Dehner

Ralph Andrew Dehner, 89, of Burlington, died at 1:55 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa.

Born July 9, 1920, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Carl and Edna Reid Dehner. On May 11, 1943, he married Darleine Junella "Dolly" Mattson in Kahoka, Missouri. She died on March 30, 2007.

Following high school, Ralph served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He worked in production as a baker for Midwest Biscuit. He enjoyed his membership in the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He also enjoyed bowling and softball. He loved traveling to visit his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Survivors include one daughter, Dayle (Richard) Dieffenbach of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; one son, Keith (Erin) Dehner of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren, Kristen (Chris Baker) Dieffenbach, David Dieffenbach, Kenneth (Bess) Dieffenbach, Ryan Dehner, Carrie (Josh) Williams and Alex Dehner; one brother, Ernie Dehner of East Moline, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Mary Dehner; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Randy, parents, one sister and seven brothers.

Funeral services for Ralph Andrew Dehner will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1221 Park Ave, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Tom Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established for American Parkinson Disease Association, Iowa Chapter.
