In this city, at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Oliver Little, Oct. 10th, Mrs. Annah Messenger, relict of Hiram Messenger, in the 82nd year of her age.

Mrs. Messenger was born in Ashford, Connecticut, June 30, 1788. She came with her husband to Portage County, Ohio, in 1811. He served in the War of 1812. They removed to Iowa in 1839 and settled in Danville. Of their eight children four are living; also eighteen grand-children, and four great-grand-children. One son served in the First Iowa Cavalry, and was mortally wounded in the battle of Camden, Arkansas. In a long and useful life, Mrs. Messenger won the respect and the confidence of a large circle of friends. Of happy temperament and genial disposition, with a quick and well-informed mind, and heart imbued with the love of God and man, she was a pattern of industry, frugality, kindness, charity, and all social virtues. "A woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised."

The funeral will take place at the Congregational church in Danville at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon, 12th inst.
