Laura B. Sams, 98, of Danville, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 1993, at the Danville Care Center.
Born March 8, 1895, in Danville, she was the daughter of Fred and Rachel Alice True Thomes. She married Joseph Grinstead in 1914. He died in 1934. She later married Willie Sams in 1943. He died in 1976.
She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Danville.
Survivors include six daughters, Delora Grinstead of Burlington, Lois Osborne of West Burlington, Doris Jones of Boonville, Arkansas, Jean Dean of Danville, JoAnn Bjorge of Roswell, New Mexico, and Mary Alice Deck of Marshall, Missouri; two sons, Dale Grinstead of Burlington, and Dee Grinstead of Kingsland, Arkansas; a stepdaughter, Mary Rodruck of Winfield; two stepsons, Harold Sams of Argyle, and Richard Sams of Phoenix, Arizona; 23 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He (sic) was preceded in death by a stepson and a stepdaughter.
Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at Elliott Chapel in New London.
The funeral for Mrs. Sams will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel with the Reverend Bob Dodds officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Danville.
A memorial has been established.
