Hazel Christina Carspecken, 82, of Great River Medical Center, Klein Center, died at 6:20 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2003 at Klein Center.

Born February 23, 1921, in Oquawka, Illinois, she was the daughter of Alex and Louisa Kalone Nelson. In 1953 she married Harley Davenport. He died September 12, 1960. On August 30, 1969 she married George Carspecken. He died August 7, 1988.

Mrs. Carspecken was a homemaker. She also worked at Bennetts Home Center and in the business office at Sears, where she was in charge of inventory control and sales records.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Elks Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women's Organization and Eastern Star.

Survivors include two stepsons, Jack Carspecken of Burlington and David Carspecken of Leesburg, Virginia; eight step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides both husbands, she was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service for Mrs. Carspecken will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev Forrest Krummel officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
