Leslie Olin Salmon, 82, of Burlington, died at 1:46 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2004, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born August 18, 1921, in Coffey, Mo., he was the son of Otto and Emma Holcomb Salmon. On February 5, 1949, he married Neola Nornea Purdum in Burlington.

Mr. Salmon was a machinist for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad. He was a veteran of the Navy. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the local machinist union. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and time with family.

Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Beverly Brookhiser of Stronghurst, Ill., and Cindy Lambert and Brenda Distelhorst, both of Burlington; one son, Rick Salmon of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

A private family memorial service for Mr. Salmon will be at Prugh's Chapel. Burial will be at a later date.
