Died:
In Burlington, Iowa, Saturday evening, Nov. 2, 1850, Mrs. Mary Ann Hendrie, wife of Charles Hendrie, aged 34 years.
Mrs. H. made a profession of religion in her 17th year at Danbury, Connecticut. Her whole life indicated that her character was formed in accordance with the elevated principals and sentiments of Christianity. To think, and ???? and act as becomes the Christian, was natural to her. Her piety was deep and earnest, but unassuming and cheerful. She possessed an amiable and benevolent disposition, and went about doing good. She was the friend of the poor and the blessing of those that were ready to ????? came, upon her. She was a devoted Sabbath School teacher, and distributor of tracts. She loved the place of prayer. She was an ornament of the church, and greatly beloved by all her acquaintance. A stricken family mourn that the light of their dwelling is taken away and the charm of their circle broken. In her sickness Mrs. H. was patient, uniformly cheerful and resigned. Though she had much for which to live, she wished to know no will but God’s. The Savior was with her, and has taken her to himself. Precious in the sight of the Lord in the death of his Saints.
