Gloria Smith

Gloria Ann Smith, 71, of Burlington died at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at her home.

Born Jan. 23, 1943, in Iowa, she was the daughter of Thomas William and Gladys Louise Boughton Ertz. On Jan. 1, 1967, she married Raymond Nuby Smith in West Burlington. They divorced.

Ms. Smith worked as a bus driver for Southeast Iowa Community Action. She graduated from Danville High School. She enjoyed her retirement and time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Timothy Smith and Daniel Smith, both of Burlington, and Teri Smith of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren; and three sisters, Hester Steele and Susan Wisener, both of Burlington, and Dorothy Remick of La Harpe, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p .m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Ms. Smith will be at 10:30 a .m. Friday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. David Mixon officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Iowa School for the Deaf.
