Death of a Pioneer Clergyman.

Rev. Reuben Gaylord died at Fontanelle, Nebraska, on the 10th instant. He came to Iowa in 1838, and was pastor of the Congregational church at Danville, in this county, for seventeen years; at the close of which period he removed to Omaha, and for the last twenty-five years labored with great industry and devotion as missionary and pastor in Nebraska. He was a native of Norfolk, Connecticut, a graduate of Yale college, in the class of 1834. He held meetings with his church at Fontanelle, during the "week of prayer" up to Thursday evening, and upon getting up the next morning fell upon the floor and was unconscious until death. He was a man of public spirit and Christian enterprise, and has closed a useful life, abundant in labors to the last. He was in the sixty eighth year of his age.
